Glasser Australia is thrilled to be hosting their 2024 National Conference at

Mantra Twin Towns on the Gold Coast Queensland from 4th –  6th October 2024.

 

We invite Glasser Australia representatives interested in presenting at the 2024 Glasser Australia National Conference to submit an abstract for consideration.

 The Conference committee is seeking Expressions of Interest from speakers in the following areas:

  • 2 x Glasser Australia Faculty Keynote presentations (60 minutes keynote plus 15 minute deep dive)
  • 8 x Workshop presentations (90 minutes)
  • 8 x Workshop presentations (60 minutes)

 The Conference aims to enrich the knowledge, skills and participation in the area of Choice Theory psychology, Reality Therapy and Lead Management and its diverse applications to mental health and well-being, therapy, education. leadership and management.

 Glasser Australia members come together in the spirit of collaboration to encourage new insights, new developments and creativity in our constant attempt to improve the quality of all we do, including facilitating networks of people, families, communities, marginalised groups, schools and organisations.

 Glasser Australia encourages members to engage in study, research and developing presentations. The conference provides an opportunity for a formal meeting of Glasser Australia members and to create a space for open exchange between the Board and members to achieve these aims, in a need fulfilling environment of belonging, empowerment, freedom, fun and general well-being.

 Glasser Australia believes that the National Conference raises the profile of Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management and its diverse applications at local community, state and national environments.

 The conference theme ‘Choosing Well-Being’ hinges on the belief that by taking responsibility for our personal choices we can develop internal psychological strengths for lasting wellbeing in an ever-changing world. It will focus on any aspect of the participants’ extension of current skills.

 The Conference Program will include four strands:

1. Wellbeing in Education
2. Staying Mentally Healthy
3. Parenting and the Wellbeing of Children
4. Leading with Wellbeing in Mind

Choosing Well-Being

 

The Glasser Australia 2024 Conference Committee is calling for Conference presentations that are practical and evidenced based, allowing the audience to walk away with practices, knowledge, strategies and ideas that can be implemented in their individual settings.

 The Glasser Australia 2024 Conference program will provide fantastic learning for everyone whether professionally, personally, or both. The conference will provide access to speakers of high repute covering topics based on current research.

 

CONFERENCE SPEAKERS AND THEME

The Glasser Australia 2024 National Conference keynote speakers will be Dr James Kirby Ph. D.(Snr. Lecturer, Clinical Psychologist, and Co-Director of the Compassionate Mind Research Group at the Uni. Of Qld., author Choosing Compassion), Emma McBride (Federal Member for Dobell – Wellbeing in our Communities), Prof. Zoltan Sarnyai (University Lecturer & Chief Scientific Advisor for the Tropical Brain and Mind Foundations) and Kari Sutton (Researcher, author, and international facilitator – she is the founder of Building Resilient Kids and the Workplace Wellbeing Toolkit).

 The Conference’s theme, ‘Choosing Well-Being’ hinges on the belief that by taking responsibility for our personal choices we can develop internal psychological strengths for lasting wellbeing in an ever-changing world.  It will extend what we already know about the impact of Choice Theory, Reality Therapy & Lead Management and will provide new knowledge and skills, so we are constantly learning and improving our effectiveness as people at both personal and professional levels.

Presentations that expand on any aspect of the theme ‘Choosing Well-being’ will be highly regarded.

 CONFERENCE STREAMS

The Conference Organising Committee is seeking submissions relating to the following Conference streams:

1- Wellbeing in Education

Educational settings are complex environments. It is vital to be able to self-manage effectively to maintain healthy levels of stress and create positive relationships. This strand focuses on enhancing the wellbeing of all members of the educational community, including students, parents and staff.

2- Being Mentally Healthy

This strand focuses on being mentally healthy, helping others to be mentally healthy, and having happier more need-satisfying relationships.

3- Wellbeing of Children and Families

This strand offers knowledge and skills while empowering children and families to maintain quality relationships, the ability to self-manage, become more resilient, happier and mentally healthy.

4- Leading with Mental Health and Well-Being in Mind

This strand focuses on successful strategies to effectively lead and manage communities, schools, health and all affiliated organisations while keeping the mental health and wellbeing for all in mind.

 

TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS:

 KEYNOTE SPEAKER PRESENTATIONS

The Glasser Australia conference committee is seeking to attract two Glasser Australia faculty members who will bring new, exciting and innovative content to the conference delegates to stimulate purposeful and meaningful conversation. Each keynote presentation will include a 60 minute presentation with a 15 minute deep dive session.

PLENARY WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS

The plenary workshop presentations will be practical, proven and oriented towards skills-development for all stakeholders within the Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management concepts. Plenary workshop presentations will promote mental health and wellbeing and strengthen practices (programs strategies, activities, methodologies, tools and resources) relating to one or more of the conference themes. The conference committee is seeking 8 x 60 minute workshops as well as 8 x 90 minute workshops. Please indicate your preferred duration of your workshop with the submission of your abstract.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS and WORKSHOP PRESENTERS seeking a formal review of a written paper can submit an abstract of up to 450 words for a keynote or workshop presentation to: gaadmin@glasseraustralia.com

KEYNOTE and WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS from the main conference room (the River Room) may be live- streamed to eligible participants during the conference.

 

ALL ABSTRACTS MUST INCLUDE TWO LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Learning Objective 1 should answer the question: “What will people in the audience gain or learn from attending their presentation?” (The focus should not be on what you are to present but what delegates will take away from the session.)
  • Leaning Objective 2 should answer the question: “How is your presentation relevant to implementation and to what setting?”

 

ESSENTIAL DETAILS

 The following guidelines apply for the submission of all abstracts:

  • All abstracts are to be emailed to: gaadmin@glasseraustralia.com.au
  • Submissions on any topic related to the streams for the Conference will be considered.
  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 450 words which will include the separate answers to the learning objectives.
  • Submissions must include a photograph and a biography of the presenter/s of up to 200 words.
  • Submissions that do not include a biography of the presenter/s will not be considered.
  • Abstracts should be submitted by no later than 23rd February 2024.
  • Contributors will be provided with advice of acceptance or rejection of their submissions by 22nd March 2024
  • Authors are to return their acceptance of the ‘Invitation to Present Form’ by 5th April 2024
  • The committee reserves the right to accept or reject any submission and extend or shorten the presentation duration.

Please Note: The presenting author/s MUST register to attend the Conference for at least the day in which they are scheduled to present. If there are other authors on the paper who are attending the Conference to present, they must also register to attend the Conference.
